The Rajasthan government is preparing to launch a new affordable housing initiative aimed at providing quality and low-cost homes to economically weaker sections. The proposed “Chief Minister Jan Awas Yojana” is designed to ensure transparency and eliminate loopholes in housing allocation.

Under the plan, developers will be required to reserve at least 10% of housing units for EWS and LIG categories. A strict clause is being introduced—if builders fail to construct these units, they will have to pay a financial penalty. The scheme also proposes a tender-based system for constructing affordable homes on government land, ensuring fair participation and accountability.

To prevent misuse, 50% of the houses will be allotted through a lottery system by the concerned authority. The initiative aims to stop irregularities and ensure that deserving beneficiaries get access to affordable housing. This move could significantly boost housing access for the poor across Rajasthan.
