HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Telangana, on April 7, 2026, caught Dr M. Goverdhan, Associate Dean (Agronomy) at the College of Agriculture, Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU), Rajendranagar, while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1,00,000.
According to the ACB, the accused officer had earlier demanded and accepted ₹25,000 from the complainant. The bribe was allegedly sought as a reward for issuing a seed licence to the complainant's firm and for ensuring there were no further obstructions from agriculture department officials in the complainant's seed business.
Cash recovered, chemical test confirms handling of bribe money
The ACB said the tainted amount of ₹1,00,000 was recovered from the possession of the accused at his instance. A chemical test conducted on his left hand fingers returned positive, indicating contact with the bribe money.
Officials stated that the accused "performed his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage".
Accused to be produced before special court
Following the trap, the accused was arrested and is being produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Nampally for judicial remand. The case is under investigation.
The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
