Mainpat Titans, led by Pardeep Mor, secured a 5-2 victory over Rajdhani Royals in the seventh match of the Chhattisgarh Hockey League, effectively ending the Royals' tournament campaign.
The first quarter saw a cautious approach from both teams, focusing on midfield control with limited circle penetrations. However, Manish Vatti put Mainpat ahead with the opening goal towards the end of the period. Rajdhani responded promptly with Aniket equalising after receiving a pass from Raushan.
Raushan appeared to find the net shortly thereafter, but the goal was disallowed, much to his disbelief. Mainpat capitalised on this reprieve as Sandeep Thakur scored following a well-executed midfield pass, taking the Titans to a 2-1 lead at half-time.
A notable moment came when Lalit assisted Raushan in scoring with a deft scoop, a goal described as the ‘goal of the tournament’. Mohit Nayak extended Mainpat’s advantage with a reverse flick, and Prince added a fourth goal.
Rajdhani Royals struggled to mount attacks in the later stages and failed to convert any penalty corners. Despite some brief brilliance, their overall performance was insufficient to challenge the Titans’ dominance.
Mohit Nayak was named both striker and player of the tournament following the match.
On October 26, Sanskardhani Strikers will face Bailadila Bulls, while Chakradhar Champions will contest against Mainpat Titans.
In another league match, Nyayadhani Knights edged closer to a semi-final spot after a 4-1 win over Bailadila Bulls, marking their third consecutive victory and placing them at the top of the points table. Chirag, the drag-flick specialist for Nyayadhani, scored a hat-trick and was declared striker and player of the match. Bailadila Bulls' only goal was scored by Jaskaran Singh.
The matches were held in the presence of Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare Arun Sao, Member of Parliament Kamlesh Jangde, and former cabinet minister Mahesh Gagada.
