Namdhari FC will play against Gokulam Kerala FC in the concluding match of the Relegation Phase of the Indian Football League (IFL) 2025-26, set to take place at the Deccan Arena on Tuesday with kickoff at 18:30 IST.
The relegation struggle in the Star Cement Indian Football League 2025-26 has been reduced to this decisive game between Namdhari and Gokulam. Namdhari currently occupy the second-bottom spot with 10 points, while bottom-placed Gokulam have 9 points. The match result will determine which team will be relegated at the end of the season, according to an official release.
Among the four teams involved in the Relegation Phase - Namdhari, Gokulam Kerala, Aizawl FC, and Real Kashmir FC - only one will face relegation. First-placed Aizawl and second-placed Real Kashmir have already secured their league status, leaving Namdhari and Gokulam in direct competition to avoid demotion.
Namdhari require only a draw to maintain their stay in the league, whereas Gokulam must secure a win to avoid relegation.
Namdhari enter the match following a 3-0 victory over Real Kashmir. Gokulam, on the other hand, come into the clash after a 2-2 draw with Aizawl FC in their previous game.
The two teams last met during the league stage on March 7, a match that ended in a 1-1 draw. Thabiso Nelson Brown gave Gokulam the lead in the 19th minute, before Seilenthang Lotjem equalised for Namdhari in the 59th minute.
From a statistical point of view, the teams are closely matched. Namdhari have scored 16 goals this season, three more than Gokulam, while Gokulam have conceded 23 goals, three more than Namdhari. These narrow differences in both attack and defence highlight the evenly-matched nature of the contest, adding intrigue to this relegation decider.
Namdhari understand the importance of limiting Gokulam's effectiveness in the final third. Defenders Balkaran Singh and Lamine Moro are expected to lead the backline, with Manish and Karan Kumar Sharma playing vital roles in providing defensive cover on the flanks.
For Gokulam, only a victory will be sufficient, requiring them to adopt an attacking approach.
