Agartala: The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) has launched a new policy to engage Community Resource Persons (CRPs) as 'Marketing Didis,' who will act as marketing agents for products made by Self Help Groups (SHGs) across Tripura, an official of TRLM said.

"Community Resource Persons are SHG members who are competitively educated and skilled in areas such as communication, articulation, and mobile phone operations. These trained Didis are later deputed to various management roles, including Bank Sakhi, Udyog Sakhi, and Matsya Sakhi, contributing to the workforce managing rural enterprises created by SHG members. Under the new policy, a group of CRPs has been designated as Marketing Didis to oversee the marketing of SHG products," the official added.

The policy, approved by TRLM's Executive Committee as part of the Annual Action Plan (AAP) 2025-26, aims to provide grassroots-level marketing support to SHG enterprises both individually and collectively through offline and online platforms.

Initially, the policy will be implemented in eight selected blocks across eight districts, chosen for their market potential and ongoing livelihood interventions.

A maximum of five Marketing Didis will be selected per block, except for the merged Ambassa and Salema block in Dhalai district, where up to 10 Marketing Didis will be engaged.

"In total, 45 Marketing Didis will be appointed under the new policy," the official said.

According to the official notification, the selected blocks are Kadamtala in North Tripura; Kumarghat in Unakoti; Ambassa and Salema (merged) in Dhalai; the SVEP block in Khowai; Teliamura in West Tripura; Old Agartala in Sepahijala; Bishalgarh in Gomati; and Matabari and Jolaibari in South Tripura.

Officials said the intervention, aligned with the Startup Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP), aims to expand products, boost CRPs' skills, improve packaging, scale up bulk production, and strengthen local market links.

The policy has come into effect immediately following approval, the notification added.

"Copies of the notification have been issued to district magistrates and collectors serving as District Mission Managers, as well as to all Block Mission Managers and Block Development Officers for necessary action," officials said.
