The city unit of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has condemned the decision of two councillors of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to switch to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Charanjit Singh Villy, president of the SAD Chandigarh unit, said it was only around mayoral polls that certain councillors showed their true faces. The party leader stated that councillors switching loyalties had no ideology, principles or commitment to the mandate they had received from voters.
Villy alleged that the BJP was abusing power and money to lure councillors from other parties into its camp, which was damaging the democratic traditions. He also stated that the SAD would contest all seats during the next Municipal Corporation elections.
