Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for accountability after prosecutors reported that two patrol officers allegedly fled the scene of a shooting attack in Kyiv.

According to Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, the officers are suspected of failing to protect civilians, including a wounded child, during the incident.

Zelensky said there must be accountability and called for a review of police protocols, training, and rules on the use of force to ensure public safety is improved.

Authorities say further legal proceedings are underway.
