BJP drops 7 MLAs including 2 ministers for Haryana Assembly polls

The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) dropped seven sitting MLAs including two cabinet ministers Vipul Goyal and Rao Narbir Singh in the first list of 78 candidates, for the Haryana Vidhan Sabha elections, released by the party on Monday.

The party has, however, fielded three newly inducted sports persons- Yogeshwar Dutt, Babita Phogat, and Sandeep Singh from Baroda, Dadri and Pehowa assembly constituencies, respectively. Deputy Speaker Santosh Yadav has replaced Sita Ram Yadav, RSS leader, from Ateli seat.

Sources revealed that the seats under Gurugram Lok Sabha constituency have been help following protest by Rao Inderjit Singh who is seeking party ticket for his daughter from Rewari or Kosli. The names of candidate for rest 12 seats were not announced as the party leadership is facing serious issues from ticket aspirants on 12 seats.

Party's sitting MP from Gurugram, Rao Inderjit Singh has taken a tough stance, demanding ticket for his daughter Aarti Rao. Rao Inderjit Singh recent win in the Lok Sabha polls was his fifth win as an MP. He is a son of Rao Birender Singh, a former Chief Minister of Haryana and also an MP from Gurgaon.

Faridabad MP and Union minister Krishan Pal Gurjar, a fromer state BJP chief, is demanding ticket for his son Devinder Chaudhary, senior deputy mayor of Faridabad.

Similarly, Nayab Singh Saini, Kurukshetra MP, is lobbying for a ticket to his wife from Naraingarh. He earlier represented the Naraingarh Assembly constituency.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will contest from Karnal while Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala will fight from Tohana.

The BJP's Central Election Committee met on Sunday evening to decide the list of candidates for the polls. However, the party has yet not released its list for Maharashtra Assembly elections, which are scheduled on the same date.

Haryana is going to polls on October 21. The last day for filing nomination is October 4. The results will be declared on October 24.
