Bharat Bhushan Ashu Directs Officials To Complete Plugging Of Eight Breaches In Phillaur Soon
Food, Civil and Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu on Saturday directed the officials involved in the plugging of breaches in Phillaur to complete all such works as soon as possible.Reviewing the ongoing plugging work at 350-ft wide in Meowal village, Mr Ashu along with Member of Parliaments (MPs) Chaudhary Santokh Singh from Jalandhar, Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu from Ludhiana, showed the satisfaction on the pace of work. He asked the officials to complete the plugging on remaining breaches to provide the relief to flood-affected people. He said that the state government had already called Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force to plug all the breaches in Jalandhar and hoped the situation will get normal in the flood-hit areas within few days.
The cabinet minister said that special Girdawari would be conducted after the water gets receded to assess crop damage due to heavy rains and breaches in the river.He said that every single penny of loss of people would be compensated by the state government and announced to initiate steps for strengthening of the banks of Satluj river to avert further loss.Mr Ashu also visited Mau Sahib and took the stock of relief camps in the areas. He said that the teams of various departments including food, civil and supply and health have been working round the clock in these areas and claimed the state government will leave no stock unturned to provide the relief to the marooned people. On the occasion, MLAs Mr Sanjay Talwar, Mr Kuldeep Singh Vaid, General Secretary of Punjab Congress Chaudhary Vikram Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Jasbir Singh, Executive Engineer Mr Devinder Singh,
