5 Dariya News 1 week ago

The Election Commission of India has issued a revised schedule for the *Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026* of electoral rolls with reference to the qualifying date of *01.10.2026. To apprise political parties of the revised schedule, **District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar, Mr. Dalwinderjit Singh, IAS*, convened an important meeting with representatives of various political parties at Room No. 168 (Meeting Hall), First Floor, District Administrative Complex, Amritsar.

During the meeting, detailed information regarding the revised SIR-2026 schedule was shared with the participants.

Addressing the meeting, the District Election Officer informed that, as per the revised schedule issued by the Election Commission of India, the *draft publication of electoral rolls* will now take place on *August 3, 2026, instead of the previously scheduled date of **July 31, 2026. Similarly, the period for filing **claims and objections* has also been revised. Citizens may now submit their claims and objections from *August 3, 2026, to September 2, 2026*.

He further stated that the disposal of claims and objections, along with the notice phase, will now be completed between *August 3, 2026, and September 28, 2026*. He clarified that all other activities under the revision programme will continue as per the previously announced schedule without any changes.

The District Election Officer informed that *Booth Level Officers (BLOs)* will conduct door-to-door visits from *June 25, 2026, to July 24, 2026*, for filling up Enumeration Forms. He further stated that all voters in the district will be required to submit an Enumeration Form under the SIR process.

He also informed that, for the convenience of the general public, *special camps* will be organized by BLOs at all polling stations across the district on *June 7, 2026. The primary objective of these camps will be to map voters from the current electoral roll with the **2003 electoral roll*.

Providing an update on the progress of the exercise, he stated that out of the district's total *1,971,604 voters, the records of **1,738,253 voters* have already been successfully mapped with the 2003 electoral roll. However, *233,351 voters* still remain unmapped and need to be covered urgently.

To facilitate this process, hard copies of booth-wise lists of unmapped voters from all Assembly constituencies have been supplied to political parties. They were requested to share these lists with their BLAs and party workers and ensure maximum voter mapping during the special camps on June 7, 2026.

The District Election Officer appealed to all political parties to appoint their *Booth Level Agents (BLAs)* at all polling stations as soon as possible to ensure that the SIR process is conducted in a smooth, fair, and transparent manner. He further informed that a *training programme for BLAs* has been scheduled from *June 15 to June 19, 2026*, in the respective Assembly constituencies. Political parties were requested to ensure the participation of their BLAs in these training sessions.

Among those present on the occasion were *Election Tehsildar Mr. Rajinder Singh Kahlon* and representatives of various political parties.
