Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian on Friday reviewed the ongoing wheat procurement operations at the Dhanansu grain market and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements in place.
He stated that all necessary measures have been implemented to ensure a smooth procurement process, assuring farmers that they will not face any inconvenience. Wheat procurement is proceeding seamlessly in all markets, he added.
During the visit, Mundian informed that detailed instructions have already been issued to officials of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, as well as heads of procurement agencies, to ensure timely payments and prompt lifting of produce. He reiterated the government's firm commitment to procure every single grain brought by farmers.
The Minister further highlighted that payments are being directly transferred to farmers' bank accounts in a timely manner through online systems. Emphasizing efficient management, he said officials have been strictly directed to avoid any issues related to transportation, payments, or logistics.
Basic facilities such as clean drinking water, adequate lighting, seating arrangements, and sanitation have been ensured to provide a comfortable environment for farmers during the procurement season.
