Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar, Ms. Komal Mittal, IAS, visited village Raipur Khurd, Block Kharar, to review and promote measures for effective crop residue management and to encourage farmers to adopt eco-friendly and sustainable farming practices.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with local farmers who have successfully sown wheat using Super Seeder machines, which enable direct sowing of wheat by mixing the standing paddy stubble into the soil.
Ms. Mittal appreciated the farmers' proactive approach and said that the adoption of such advanced machinery not only helps prevent stubble burning but also enhances soil fertility and reduces pollution levels. She further urged other farmers in the area to follow the same sustainable methods and make maximum use of Crop Residue Management (CRM) equipment made available by the government under various subsidy schemes.
Emphasizing the importance of community-level initiatives, Ms. Mittal urged the Panchayat of Raipur Khurd to apply on the State Government's portal for procurement of Baler and Rake machines, which can be used collectively for making bales of paddy residue from the village fields. She added that the government has been promoting the use of CRM machinery through the 'Unnat Kisan' App and by coordinating with Nodal Cluster Officers, ensuring that maximum farmers benefit from the available resources.
Responding to the farmers' demand for additional baling machinery, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the officers of the Agriculture Department to assess the requirement of the village and ensure that the necessary machines are made available to the Panchayat or the cooperative society before the next season.
She reiterated the district administration's commitment to assisting farmers in adopting modern agricultural techniques and achieving a clean and pollution-free environment during the paddy harvesting season. Among those present during the visit were ADC (D) Sonam Chaudhary, officials from Agricultural Department and farmers of Raipur Khurd village.
