Haryana Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Minister, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa informed that the Kurukshetra-Dhand road, leading further to Kaithal, has been designated as MDR-119. The stretch from Kurukshetra to Dhand is about 15 kilometres long, with a Right of Way (ROW) ranging from 18.30 metres to 26.80 metres.

He said that in 2021, the width of this road was increased from 7 metres to 10 metres. The Minister stated that the strengthening work of the road has recently been approved under the MDR Work Programme 2025-26.

The project for strengthening the road at its present 10-metre width has been awarded to a contractor, and the target date for completion is April 6, 2026. Work on the project is currently in progress and around 60 per cent of the work has already been completed.

The Minister was responding to a question raised in the House during the ongoing Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today. He further informed that there was no proposal earlier to convert the Kurukshetra-Dhand road into a four-lane road.

However, Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini has recently announced the four-laning of the route connecting Kaithal, Dhand, Kurukshetra, Ladwa, Radaur and Yamunanagar. Discussions have been held with the Haryana Forest Department regarding the availability of the required land, and the necessary procedures are currently underway. Construction work for the four-laning will begin once the process is completed.

The Minister also informed the House that during the previous budget speech, the Chief Minister had announced the goal of making roads across the state pothole-free. In this direction, the Chief Minister had launched a new carpeting programme covering about 6,000 kilometres of roads across the state from Hisar last September, under which road improvement works are being carried out.
