The Department of Management, University School of Management Studies (USMS), of Rayat Bahra University organised an expert lecture on "Beyond Taxation: How GST is Transforming Business & Technology in India" to provide students with deeper insights into the evolving role of GST in business operations, compliance systems, and digital governance.
On the occasion, Chancellor Dr. Gurvinder Singh Bahra and Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjay Kumar conveyed their best wishes and stressed the importance of industry-oriented knowledge in taxation, finance, and business technology. They encouraged students to stay updated with emerging trends in digital taxation and governance.
The keynote address was delivered by Poonam Thakur HPRS, Assistant Commissioner, State Taxes and Excise-cum-Enforcement & Nodal Officer District Shimla, who explained how GST has simplified India's indirect taxation system by integrating multiple taxes into one unified framework. She highlighted the role of digital invoicing, online tax filing systems, e-governance platforms, and automated compliance mechanisms in improving transparency and efficiency.
Earlier, Prof. (Dr.) Sunayna Khurana Dean, USMS introduced the speaker and emphasized the significance of technology-driven tax reforms in strengthening India's business ecosystem. The interactive session saw enthusiastic participation from students, who raised questions related to GST compliance, taxation careers, and digital finance systems.
