OnePlus TV reportedly codenamed Dosa and runs a MediaTek processor
"OnePlus would be launching the OnePlus TV in September and it will be available in India first"
OnePlus has already confirmed some details of its upcoming OnePlus TV. We know that the company plans on making it an India exclusive in the beginning and it will be available in September. We also know that the OnePlus TV will be available in multiple sizes, with the 55-inch variant carrying a QLED panel. Now, a new leak has appeared online revealing some other key specifications of the OnePlus TV. We cannot confirm these details as of now, so take it with a pinch of salt.
According to a tweet by Android TV Rumours, the OnePlus TV was recently certified by Google and carries the name 'OnePlus_Dosa_IN'. The TV will be powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT5670 chipset. The chipset would be paired with a Mali-G51 MP3 GPU and up to 3GB RAM. The leaker also stated that although the OnePlus TV would support 4K content, it would display the TV menus in 1080p resolution.
More info on the @OnePlus TV "OnePlus_Dosa_IN" I talked about yesterday.
It's using a Mediatek MT5670 (no info found on it, so far) with a good Mali-G51 MP3 GPU. And of course, #AndroidTV 9.
ATV only allows 1080p for the TV menus, don't worry TV is 4K for compatible content. pic.twitter.com/RuS8TgYBJF- Android TV Rumors (@androidtv_rumor) August 23, 2019
Also, the OnePlus TV will run Android 9.0 Pie out of the box, but this is something that was already known. However, the company is expected to include extra features and customisations by adding its own apps on top of the Google OS. That's all the information available on the TV right now. Reports have suggested it will be available in 43-inch, 55-inch, 65-inch, and in 75-inch sizes. This would put the OnePlus TV in direct competition with premium brands such as Samsung, Sony, along with Chinese brands such as Xiaomi.
OnePlus has spoken a lot about how the OnePlus TV would be different from the traditional smart Android TV available currently. Instead of just being a TV, it would also be the centre of a smart home. Perhaps the TV could be used to control and monitor smart devices in the home, we should know more during the launch. Reports have also stated that the OnePlus TV will be sold both online and offline, making it accessible to more users. Online sales would be exclusive to Amazon India though. Rumours suggest that OnePlus may announce the TVs at the send of September. We would have to wait to find out.
