Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G gets an iFixit repairability score of 3/10
"Once the display is off, the motherboard is visible right away at the top half of the phone, which iFixit points out allows for a wider battery"
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series was unveiled earlier this month at the Unpacked event. The handset and its variants already hit the stores in most markets worldwide. Now, iFixit has torn down the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G, revealing what's inside and the repairability of the handset. Unlike the last year, the fingerprint sensor is now moved beneath the display and the brand has eliminated the 3.5mm audio jack. Once the display panel is off, the motherboard is visible right away at the top half of the phone, like the iPhone X style. iFixit says that this allows for a wider battery. However, it makes the connection between mother and daughterboard trickier and blocks access to the battery. The common display repairs require complete teardown or replacing half the phone
All the cables are on top, rather than under the battery. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G packs Qualcomm QTM052 mmWave antenna module, Qualcomm X50 5G modem, 12GB Samsung K3UHAHA LPDDR4X RAM, 256GB Samsung eUFS 3.0 flash storage, NXP 80T17 NFC controller, ON Semiconductor NCP59744 voltage regulator, and Cirrus Logic CS35L40 audio amplifiers. iFixit notes that every repair requires un-glueing the rear cover glass and replacing the glued battery is not going to be easy, especially "with board interconnect cables to work around."
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G packs a new vibration motor; this is a move away from the standard circular LRA motor found on all of its phones. Overall, the handset has managed to bag a repairability score of 3/10. Most of the handset's components are modular and independently replaceable. Further, the common display repairs "require complete teardown or replacing half the phone."
