Before becoming one of Hollywood's most recognisable stars, Paul Rudd spent his weekends spinning records at weddings, birthdays and bar mitzvahs, a job he says taught him exactly how to get people onto the dance floor.
The actor recently revisited that chapter of his life during an advanced screening of his new film Power Ballad at 92NY in New York City.
Reflecting on his pre-fame days, Rudd revealed that he worked as a DJ while he was still studying and trying to establish himself as an actor. "I was in school. I could work on the weekends - bat mitzvahs, weddings, and birthdays. I did that for about a year," he said.
The actor recalled that successful DJing often came down to understanding which songs appealed to different generations of guests. "If I wanted the kids to get out there, I knew that 'Can't Touch This' was a big one," Rudd said, referring to MC Hammer's iconic hit. "But if I wanted the grandparents to dance - Glenn Miller," he added.
Rudd has often spoken about the various jobs he held during the early years of his career while pursuing acting opportunities.
