The State GST Department allegedly seized around 100 kg of silver from a man travelling in a private luxury bus from Ahmedabad's Geeta Mandir area to Rajkot.

This comes close on the heels of 400 kg of suspected unaccounted silver worth nearly Rs 10 crore being seized at Rajkot International Airport.

According to sources, the State GST team received specific information about silver being illegally transported through a private bus operating between Ahmedabad and Rajkot.

Following the tip-off, officials kept watch near Geeta Mandir and stopped a suspicious passenger. During a check, authorities allegedly found nearly 100 kg of silver packed in bags. Sources said preliminary investigation found there were no proper bills for nearly 80% of the seized silver. Despite the seizure, no trader has officially come forward to claim ownership of the goods so far. AM
