More than 73 lakh passengers have travelled on Vande Bharat trains operating from Gujarat since Oct 2022, generating over Rs 722 crore in revenue till Mar 2026, according to official data.

At present, six Vande Bharat routes run from the state - Mumbai Central-Gandhinagar, Sabarmati-Jodhpur, Ahmedabad-Okha, Mumbai Central-Ahmedabad, Sabarmati-Veraval and Asarva-Udaipur. The network has expanded steadily over the past few years, adding new routes to connect major cities.

The Ahmedabad-Mumbai corridor remains among the most used, especially by working professionals and frequent travellers. Railway data shows high demand on several routes, with occupancy crossing 100% on some services and going up to 140% on select trips, while many others reported over 90% occupancy.

The trains are equipped with automatic doors, GPS-based passenger information systems, reclining seats, charging points, CCTV coverage and bio-vacuum toilets, including facilities for differently-abled passengers.

Officials said the rising passenger numbers and high occupancy reflect growing use of these services across the state.
