The advance property tax scheme of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will open on April 9, and run until May 31. The initiative, which generated Rs 853 crore last year, offers significant rebates to taxpayers who pay early and online.
According to officials, those who pay their property tax in advance between April 9 and May 31, 2026, will be eligible for a 12 per cent rebate. An additional 1 per cent rebate will be given for payments made through online mode, taking the total rebate to 13 per cent.
Taxpayers who have paid advance property tax consecutively for the last three years will receive an extra 2 per cent rebate, making them eligible for a maximum rebate of 15 per cent. The scheme applies only to taxpayers who have cleared all dues up to the financial year 2025-26 and have no outstanding demand.
AMC has instructed all seven zones to aim for higher collections this year. Sources confirmed that the ruling BJP had cleared the scheme before the announcement of municipal elections.
