The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will begin a special joint drive with the police to improve traffic management and create awareness about encroachments in the city.
The Joint Enforcement Team (JET) formed for the drive has officials from the estate department, solid waste management wing, local police and traffic police. The team will carry out checks on major roads and busy areas to ensure traffic rules are followed and encroachments are removed.
Officials said the main aim is to encourage discipline among citizens, keep roads clean and free from obstruction, and prevent rule violations.
During the drive, action will be taken against illegal parking, roadside obstructions and unauthorised posters and banners.
At the same time, citizens will be guided to follow rules and maintain cleanliness. The drive will be conducted daily in two shifts-morning and evening.
Authorities have deployed towing vans, encroachment removal vehicles and other equipment across different zones. Body-worn cameras will also be used to ensure transparency.
The drive will focus on key roads in west, north-west, south-west and central zones, including CG Road, SG Highway, 132-ft Ring Road, Science City Road, Sindhu Bhavan Road, Drive-in Road, Anandnagar, Dadhichi Bridge to Delhi Darwaja, and other important routes.
Officials said the campaign aims to improve traffic discipline and create a cleaner and more organised Ahmedabad with active public support.
