Even as Ahmedabad builds infrastructure to host the upcoming Commonwealth Games (CWG) in 2030, the hospitality industry is gearing up to add star-category keys (rooms) to match the surge in demand in the coming days.

In one such development, The Forum Hotel & Convention announced the opening of a new five-star category hotel, with 195 rooms and suites in the Club O7 premises in Shela.

The integration of the new hotel, which has come up with an investment of around Rs 260 crore, with the company's existing adjoining Wyndham Hotel, will increase its room inventory to 387 premium rooms and suites. As per the hotel management, the property spans approximately 12 lakh sq ft and is designed to host up to 5,000 guests. The property also includes a 40,000 sq ft grand pillarless ballroom.

MD of Forum Hotel & Convention, Kalpesh Prajapati, said given Gujarat's growing capacity for large-scale weddings, exhibitions and corporate events, the Forum Hotel & Convention has created a comprehensive hospitality destination, with parking capacity for around 1,500 vehicles, an essential advantage for high-footfall events in a growing urban centre like Ahmedabad.

He said so far they have invested around Rs 500 crore for 12 lakh sq ft construction in the premises, with two world-class hotels, over 32 modern banquet venues, conference rooms, meeting spaces and a state-of-the-art auditorium with advanced acoustics support for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE ) in Gujarat.

The group still has another 2 lakh sq ft space left to come up with other hospitality facilities in future, as part of their expansion plans.
