Actor and environmental advocate Dia Mirza has shared how her six-year-old son, Avyaan Azaad Rekhi, is already developing an understanding of nature and conservation.

Taking to social media, Mirza revealed that Avyaan is familiar with the migration patterns of flamingos and has begun asking questions about the destruction of mangrove ecosystems.

The actor shared photographs from a recent visit to the flamingo habitat in Airoli (left). The images showed children observing birds from a boat, flocks of flamingos along the wetlands, and activists holding placards calling for the protection of mangroves.

Reflecting on the visit, Mirza wrote that repeated exposure to nature has nurtured her son's curiosity. "The seed of love is sown through connection. This was Avyaan's third visit to Airoli. He knows where the flamingos come from, why they return each year, how long they stay," she wrote.

"He has watched them, learnt about the mangroves, and understands that this place is sacred. He loves it. And now many of his friends do too."

Mirza also highlighted concern over the proposed destruction of

mangrove trees in the region. "As citizens come together to oppose the destruction of over 45,000 mangrove trees, I find myself asking: what will it take to understand that destroying living ecosystems is self-destruction? Mangroves are not just trees. They protect our coasts from flooding, store carbon, support fisheries, filter pollutants, and sustain biodiversity," she wrote. Agencies
