Enthusiasts planning a road trip to "Road to Heaven" in Kutch have been warned against using drones in the area. The Forest Department in Rapar has imposed a ban on drone operations in the area.

The restriction reminded via a circular on Friday prohibits drone shooting on both sides of the stretch, following concerns over disturbance to wildlife and legal provisions under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.

In its official communication, the department stated that the area adjoining "Road to Heaven" is a wildlife-sensitive zone with clear signboards already installed warning against drone usage. It further clarified that operating drones in the region constitutes an offence under the Wildlife Protection Act.

Officials also pointed out that the location falls under a drone-prohibited zone due to its proximity to a BSF-controlled border area, adding to security concerns in the region.

"The protection of wildlife and natural resources in this area is essential. Drone activity disturbs the natural behaviour of animals. Hence, no individual is permitted to fly drones or conduct aerial shooting at 'Road to Heaven'. Strict legal action will be taken against violators," the Range Forest Officer of Rapar North Wildlife Range said in the notice.

The department has urged visitors and photographers to adhere to the restrictions and avoid using drones for recreational or commercial filming. Authorities have warned that violations will invite strict legal action under relevant environmental and wildlife protection laws.

Forest dept Chintan Shibir pushes for more green cover

​​​​​​​The two-day Chintan Shibir of the forest department concluded in Gandhinagar on Friday, where officials discussed ways to improve forest management, wildlife protection and green cover in the state.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said continuous review is important for better governance. He said that due to various initiatives, the number of trees outside forest areas in Gujarat has gone up by 47% in the last 12 years. He asked officials to focus on planting trees on barren land using technology.

Forest and Environment Minister Arjun Modhwadia said the state plans to set up 8 to 10 hi-tech nurseries across districts to improve tree survival rates. These nurseries will include agro, horticulture and forest plants. Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Das said efforts are on to raise the state's forest cover to 13% from current 11%. AM
