Just hours after finishing runners-up in IPL 2026, Gujarat Titans players and support staff had a narrow escape when their team bus suffered a short circuit late on Sunday night, filling the vehicle with smoke and forcing an emergency evacuation.
The bus was ferrying the team from Narendra Modi Stadium to their hotel following Gujarat Titans' five-wicket defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL final when the incident occurred near Apollo Circle on the Ring Road close to Bhat village. According to sources, smoke suddenly began billowing from the bus due to a technical fault. Alerted to the problem, the driver immediately pulled over and all players and support staff were safely evacuated. No injuries or major damage were reported.
The incident left the team stranded on the roadside for nearly an hour before a replacement bus was arranged. Captain Shubman Gill, along with the entire squad and support staff, escaped unharmed.
Adding to the drama, Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammed Siraj shared an Instagram story late on Sunday night showing him and several teammates seated on the ground. He captioned the post, "Breakdown", in an apparent reference to the bus malfunction.
