The health department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 on William John's Pizza outlet in Shahibaug following a hygiene complaint.
The case arose when Dhruv Patel, a local resident, discovered a large strand of hair in his very first bite of a pizza. According to Patel, the staff dismissed the issue and merely offered a replacement, prompting him to file a formal complaint through the AMC helpline.
Acting on the report, a health department team carried out an immediate inspection of the outlet's kitchen. Officials found unhygienic conditions and inadequate cleaning practices, leading to the fine.
