Ahmedabad: A cricket match between two local groups took a violent turn in Ingoli village, located in Dholka taluka of Ahmedabad district, after a dispute escalated into firing in a public area.
The incident has prompted swift action from local police, who have registered a case and launched an investigation.
According to officials, young men from two groups within the same community were playing cricket when a player was struck by the ball. What began as a verbal argument quickly intensified, leading to heightened tensions between the two sides. In a fit of rage, an individual identified as Vahidkhan Majidkhan Pathan allegedly pulled out a weapon and fired into the air, causing panic among those present.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a substantial police force, including the DYSP of Dholka Division, personnel from Dholka Rural Police Station, and the Local Crime Branch (LCB), rushed to the village. Authorities established a tight security cordon to control the situation and prevent further violence.
The affected party subsequently filed a formal complaint at the Dholka Rural Police Station. Police Inspector Hitubha Gohil confirmed that a case has been registered and that efforts are underway to apprehend the accused. Officials stated that details regarding whether the weapon was licensed will only be confirmed after the suspect is taken into custody.
The incident has raised concerns about public safety and the carrying of weapons in communal spaces. Police continue to investigate the matter.
