After a brief dip in temperatures, heat is set to return across Gujarat in the coming days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting a gradual rise of 2-4°C after the next 24 hours.
According to the latest IMD bulletin, there was no major change in temperatures across the state in the past 24 hours. However, maximum temperatures remained below normal in parts of South Gujarat, North Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch, while staying normal elsewhere.
Rainfall was reported at a few places in North Gujarat and at isolated locations in South Gujarat and Saurashtra, while Kutch and Union Territories like Diu, Daman and Dadra & Nagar Haveli remained dry.
For Ahmedabad, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy, with the maximum temperature likely to touch around 36°C. On Wednesday, the city recorded a maximum of 35.8°C, which was about 3.2°C below normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 24.7°C, slightly above normal. No rainfall was recorded in the city during the period.
The IMD has forecast dry weather across Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch and adjoining Union Territories for the next seven days. However, residents in coastal areas should brace for discomfort as hot and humid conditions are likely to develop between April 11 and April 14.
Weather systems currently influencing the region include a cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan, along with a western disturbance over north Pakistan and Jammu & Kashmir, which are impacting temperature patterns.
IMD officials said no major warnings have been issued for the next three days, but conditions may turn uncomfortable later in the week due to rising humidity along the coast.
