JEE-Mains results: Rajkot boy scores 100 percentileNimay Purohit among 26 across India with perfect score, eyes IIT admission

Ahmedabad Mirror 1 month ago

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday declared the JEE-Mains Session-2 results. Rajkot student Nimay Purohit has secured a perfect 100 percentile and is among just 26 candidates across India to achieve the feat.

Son of doctor parents, Nimay chose engineering out of his passion for mathematics. He began preparing for JEE in Class 9 and followed a systematic plan over four years. He has set his sights on admission to a top IIT.

Reflecting on his journey after the JEE-Mains Paper-1 result, Nimay said, "In Class 12, my focus was to finish the syllabus quickly so I could clear doubts, take mock tests and solve previous years' papers. I devoted eight to nine hours daily to preparation."

Better than last year

Twenty-four candidates had achieved the feat in 2025. While over 13 lakh candidates had appeared in the first edition of the exam in January, more than 10 lakh had appeared in the second edition in April. Over eight lakh appeared in both sessions.

Besides Nimay, five each are from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, four from Rajasthan, three from Delhi and two each from Maharashtra and Haryana have secured an NTA score of 100. One candidate each from Chandigarh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Odisha have achieved the feat.

According to officials, the NTA score is not the same as the percentage of marks obtained but normalised scores.
