Justice Alpesh Yeshvant Kogje, currently the senior-most judge of the Gujarat High Court, is set to move to Madhya Pradesh after the Supreme Court Collegium recommended his appointment as Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
The recommendation was approved at the Collegium's meeting on August 31.
A law graduate of the Faculty of Law at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Justice Kogje completed his BSc in Chemistry in 1990 before obtaining his law degree in 1993. He began practising law the same year.
He appeared in a wide range of civil and criminal matters before the Gujarat HC. He served as an Additional Public Prosecutor between 2002 and 2007 and later worked as Standing Counsel for the Central Excise and Customs Department.
Justice Kogje was elevated to the Gujarat High Court as an Additional Judge in April 2016. He was made a permanent judge of the court in March 2018.AM
