Kangana Ranaut has called for more child-friendly workplaces, saying women should not be forced to choose between building a career and raising a family because of inadequate institutional support.
The actor made the remarks during a promotional interaction for her upcoming film Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, where she discussed the challenges faced by working mothers and the need for workplaces to adapt to increasing female participation in the workforce.
Reflecting on the film's shoot, Ranaut recalled seeing co-star Smita Tambe's daughters and the children of other crew members on set. She said the experience highlighted how most workplaces remain poorly equipped to accommodate working parents. "We talk so much about having prayer rooms and other facilities at workplaces, but why are there no rooms for children?" Ranaut asked.
She said encouraging women to enter the workforce is only part of the solution. She argued that organisations must also create systems that allow mothers to continue working without feeling torn between professional and personal responsibilities. Ranaut warned that as more women pursue demanding careers, childcare support will become an increasingly important issue. Without practical support structures, she said, many women may find themselves forced to choose between family and career. IANS
