Actor Karisma Kapoor has credited her journey in Hindi cinema to her mother, actor Babita, calling her the strongest influence in her life.

Appearing on the reality show Indian Idol for a special episode, Karisma became emotional as she reflected on her mother's role in shaping both her career and her values.

Host Aditya Narayan noted that while Karisma became an on-screen star, Babita remained the "real superstar" behind her success, having supported her daughter's decision to enter the film industry.

Responding to this, Karisma said, "You are making me emotional right now. I worship my mother. This is how a mother should be, a mother is everything. Of course, my family supported me, everyone supported me, but the confidence my mother had and the values she taught me are the most important."

She added, "I think that is why I am what I am today and what I was. Definitely, I will give all my credit to my mother for what I am even today."

Karisma also spoke about Babita's own film career, noting that although it lasted only a few years, it featured several successful projects. She worked with leading stars of her time, including Rajesh Khanna, Jeetendra, Manoj Kumar, and Dharmendra, as well as members of the Kapoor family, such as Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor.

Babita stepped away from films after marriage, in keeping with prevailing norms within the Kapoor family at the time.
