Actor Keanu Reeves has offered simple yet pointed advice for aspiring performers, urging them to approach their work with humility and respect.
In an interview with E! News, Reeves spoke about the mindset he believes is essential to sustaining a career in the film industry. "...go to work and respect who you're working with until they prove they don't get your respect," he said.
Reeves was joined by co-stars Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer while promoting their upcoming project Outcome, directed by Jonah Hill.
Diaz echoed Reeves' thoughts, noting that such advice extends beyond the film world. "Yeah. That's life," she said, adding that there is no fixed blueprint for handling fame. "There's no handbook or manual on being famous. You gotta just make it your own - you don't know what it's gonna be."
She also encouraged younger actors to seek guidance from those they admire. "Also, there's reaching out to other people that you admire, the way that they do it and asking them for some advice," Diaz said.
Reeves, best known for his work in the John Wick series, currently stars in Outcome, which follows an actor forced to confront his past amid a blackmail plot.
Bomer added that staying grounded is equally important in an unpredictable industry. He suggested that having a trusted support system can make a significant difference. "...surround yourself with friends and keep your friends who maybe knew you before as well… who can really ground you and who are gonna be there by your side through the good and the bad," he said.
The film also marks a reunion between Reeves and Diaz, who previously starred together in Feeling Minnesota.
