Singer Kesha has revealed that one of her most unusual hobbies is collecting teeth, saying she has turned them into jewellery and decorative pieces over the years - partly because it amuses her and "freaks out straight men".
Appearing on the Las Culturistas podcast, the singer said the collection began after fans started sending her their children's naturally shed baby teeth. "Do you know I collect teeth? I do. Send them over," Kesha said, adding, "The teeth started when I became obsessed with my fans and then someone was like, 'My child lost their teeth,' and I was like, 'Can I have them?'" The pop star said the growing collection inspired her to create a range of accessories. "I made a necklace, an earring and then a belt and then a crown. Then I just started collecting them because it kind of freaks out straight men," she said.
The singer added that she now keeps many of the teeth in jars displayed around her home. "I just started putting them all over my home, in little jars," she said.
Kesha jokingly encouraged fans to donate their unwanted teeth rather than throw them away. "I'm a pop star who needs your teeth," she said. "Do you flush them down the toilet? Where are they going? Give them to me. Can I actually have them? It's not a drill, not a joke."
Earlier this year, Kesha revealed on the Call Her Daddy podcast that her collection extends beyond human teeth. "It just reminds me when I have a little piece of the people I love. I have my cats... had to get their little teeth taken out. They're little kitty wisdom teeth. I collect those too," she said.
