Actor Milly Alcock says stepping into the role of Supergirl marked a decisive shift after her early success in House of the Dragon, even as she grappled with uncertainty about her career.
In a recent interview, Alcock reflected on the period following her breakout role as young Rhaenyra Targaryen, admitting she felt adrift despite the show's success.
"I was so s--- scared that my life was over at 22… and, of course, it wasn't," she said, adding that she "kind of bullied myself into" taking on the lead role in Supergirl.
Alcock rose to prominence with her performance in the first season of the series in 2022, though her character's arc meant a relatively brief screen presence.
She returned briefly in the second season but said the transition left her searching for her next step.
That next phase saw her enter the DC Universe, making an appearance in Superman before taking on the titular role in Supergirl, directed by James Gunn's expanding franchise. The upcoming film follows the character on an interstellar journey of vengeance and justice, pairing her with an unlikely ally.
Looking ahead, Alcock said she is keen to collaborate with a new generation of performers.
