Train travel from Ahmedabad and across western and north-bound routes is set to be hit over the next few days, with multiple cancellations, diversions and delays announced due to engineering works at different locations.

The biggest impact will be seen on April 24, when a traffic block on the Geratpur-Ahmedabad section for the bullet train project will affect several key services. Vande Bharat trains between Gandhinagar and Mumbai will not run on their full route, with one starting from Ahmedabad and the other terminating early at Vatva. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Shatabdi will also leave late, while MEMU services between Vatva and Vadodara and the Vadodara-Jamnagar Intercity trains have been cancelled. Long-distance trains will also face delays. Services like Asansol-Ahmedabad, Howrah-Ahmedabad and Katra-Gandhidham Express will be held up by up to nearly two hours in the Vadodara division, while Gujarat Queen will not run between Vadodara and Ahmedabad.

At the same time, another block on the Ajmer-Palanpur section in Rajasthan for bridge work will lead to cancellations of Sabarmati-Jodhpur trains on April 24 and 25. Several trains, including those from Bandra, Bengaluru and Hadapsar to Jodhpur, will run on diverted routes via Mehsana and Bhildi, with additional halts at smaller stations like Patan .

Adding to the disruption, non-interlocking work at Prayagraj Junction will divert key trains connecting Gujarat to Bihar. Ahmedabad-Darbhanga, Ahmedabad-Patna services will run via Prayagraj Chheoki instead of the main Prayagraj route between April 24 and 29. These trains will also get a temporary two-minute halt at Chheoki station. Railway officials said the blocks are necessary for infrastructure upgrades, but passengers have been advised to check updated timings and routes before travel, as multiple changes are in effect across different days.
