Six hotels in the north-west zone were sealed on June 16 for failing to comply with mandatory fire safety measures. Following the tragic hotel fire in New Delhi that claimed 21 lives, Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services has launched an extensive inspection drive across hotels and restaurants in the city.
Officials inspected establishments across all seven zones, issuing notices to 53 hotels for violations ranging from non-functional fire systems and expired safety certificates to breaches of fire norms. The notices warned of sealing and disconnection of water and drainage connections if compliance was not ensured.
A follow-up inspection 10 days after the June 6 drive found six hotels in Thaltej, Bodakdev and Gurukul still non compliant. Action was taken under the Gujarat Fire Prevention and Life Safety Regulations, with the Fire Brigade sealing the premises.
Hotels sealed include Hotel Royal Square, Hotel 4 Food, Hotel Captown, Apollo Hotel, Hotel Grant Inn, Hotel Lake Inn.
