Gen Z employees are reshaping workplace culture, and social media is full of conversations comparing their work style with that of millennials.
Unlike previous generations, Gen Z does not romanticize hustle culture or blindly accept long working hours, strict office norms, and the belief that productivity means being available around the clock. For them, mental well-being, flexibility, and personal boundaries matter just as much as career advancement.
Success, in their view, is no longer just about climbing the corporate ladder, but about maintaining a healthy balance between work and life. As more Gen Z professionals enter the corporate world, many organisations are beginning to adapt to their mindset and welcome their fresh perspectives.
A recent viral video perfectly captured this changing workplace dynamic. Rather than focusing on complaints or criticism, the clip highlighted the comfort and happiness that can exist in a positive and supportive work environment.
Shared on Instagram, the video begins with what appears to be a routine virtual meeting between Naresh Harwani, the CEO and founder of RemoteStar, and his team. The London-based, AI-driven recruitment and staffing firm specialises in helping companies hire, assess, and manage skilled remote engineering and technical talent. However, what started as an ordinary online meeting quickly turned into a light-hearted and memorable moment when a female employee joined the call with her face covered in a neem face mask, a very Gen Z way of multitasking.
With a towel wrapped around her head and a drink in hand, the employee casually turned on her camera and began presenting an update on her work, effortlessly combining self-care with professionalism. Her unexpected appearance left her co-workers amused, triggering soft laughter and smiles across the meeting. Even Harwani struggled to hide his grin, though he continued to listen attentively to her update.
Once she finished speaking, Harwani joined in on the fun and jokingly asked what kind of face mask she was wearing, guessing it might be black seaweed. He was mistaken. The employee revealed it was a neem mask and, in a playful moment, even suggested that the CEO should try it too, prompting another round of laughter from the team.
Unsurprisingly, the internet loved the interaction. Social media users flooded the comments with praise for Harwani's easygoing and approachable nature. One person called him "the best CEO in history," while another encouraged everyone on the call to make him proud. Others described the founder as "calm, composed, and charming," applauding the relaxed and cheerful workplace atmosphere he seemed to foster.
