Ticket resale mkt thrives on finals dayLast-minute listings touch Rs 5 lakh per ticket as desperate fans hunt for seats outside the stadium

Ahmedabad Mirror 2 months ago

Even though tickets for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 final were officially sold out earlier, several tickets surfaced on online resale platforms just hours before the big clash between India and Zealand at Ahmedabad on Sunday evening.

A check on ticket resale platform Viagogo on Sunday morning showed at least 63 listings for the final scheduled at 7 pm at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Prices varied widely depending on the stand and row.

Upper-tier tickets were listed between around Rs 16,000 and Rs 18,500, with sections such as K9 and Q6 among the cheaper options. Seats in K3 and M3 were priced close to Rs 19,000 to Rs 20,000.

Lower-tier seats were significantly costlier, starting from around Rs 23,000. Tickets in sections like N6, G6 and N4 were listed between Rs 24,000 and Rs 25,000.

The biggest jump in prices was seen in premium and hospitality areas. Some listings showed prices of around Rs 89,000, Rs 1.86 lakh, Rs 3.67 lakh, Rs 4.02 lakh and even Rs 5.02 lakh per ticket, reflecting the massive demand for the final.

Another set of listings showed tickets in sections E5, H3, G9 and A2 priced around Rs 25,300, tagged as "great" or "amazing" value. Mid-range sections such as J1, G7, B9, F3, A3 and E6 were listed between roughly Rs 30,000 and Rs 35,500. Premium seating in South Premium West and South Premium Center sections ranged from about Rs 73,800 to nearly Rs 86,700.

Outside the stadium, the situation was similar. Mirror found several people gathered around trying to secure last-minute deals, with tickets being informally offered between Rs 8,000 and Rs 60,000.

Veral Patel, a civil engineer trying to get a ticket, said he could not purchase it earlier because it was uncertain whether India would reach the final. "After India qualified for the final, tickets were no longer available online. Now people around the stadium are asking for very high prices," he said.

Tickets were also being advertised for sale on Instagram, indicating active resale activity on social media as well.
