Actor Donal Bisht has opened up about losing an opportunity to work with director Imtiaz Ali because of misguided advice she received at the time.

Bisht said she had been shortlisted for a project by the filmmaker and had reached the final rounds of meetings with Ali and his team. The actor recalled feeling excited after receiving the call and sharing the news with people close to her.

Speaking about the experience, Bisht said, "I never said no, but the situation became so confusing and unsure."

She explained that once people around her learnt about the meeting, they began advising her on how she should respond and what she should say during the interaction. According to the actor, she was told the suggestions would help her secure the project. However, she said that guidance left her hesitant during the meeting and she ended up sounding unsure about certain aspects. This reportedly created confusion for the team.

Bisht said the casting team later contacted her to ask if she was fine or under stress.

Reflecting on the incident, the actor said she eventually realised that some people may not always wish well for others in the industry. "I couldn't understand all that time. Such recurring situations led me to cut the noise and understand people better," she said.

Bisht added that the experience taught her to trust her instincts. "One should be able to make their own decisions and not be controlled by others," she said.
