Trinamool Congress MP and former cricketer Yusuf Pathan has filed an appeal against a Gujarat High Court single-judge order upholding Vadodara Municipal Corporation's (VMC) action to reclaim land allotted to him.

The appeal is expected to be listed shortly once registry formalities are completed.

Pathan had challenged a notice of the state government, dated June 6, 2024, rejecting VMC's proposal to lease him a plot for 99 years without public auction. The notice directed VMC to urgently remove the encroachment.

The court also rejected Pathan's submission that he was willing to pay. It held that municipal land must be sold through auction, adding that he may participate in the auction.AM
