Actor Zendaya has finally addressed ongoing speculation about her relationship with Tom Holland, explaining why she prefers not to publicly confirm or deny marriage rumours.
Speaking on The New York Times' Modern Love podcast, Zendaya acknowledged the intense public interest in her personal life. "I just feel like for me there is a level of parasocial investment in my personal relationship, which I understand," she said. The actor noted that both she and Holland have grown up in the public eye, often portraying romantic partners on screen, which has fueled curiosity about their relationship. "I'm aware that I'm a public person and so is he… and I don't want to dismiss that like, 'Stay out of my business' or whatever," she said.
At the same time, Zendaya stressed the importance of maintaining privacy. "In a lot of ways, I'm also a very private person and I try my best to be able to have things for myself and for him as well," she said.
The actor's remarks come amid renewed speculation, fuelled in part by public appearances where she has been seen wearing what appears to be a wedding band. However, she made it clear that not every aspect of her life is meant for public consumption.
While she is not trying to "hide" her relationship, Zendaya explained that preserving moments is essential to sustaining it. The couple aims to "preserve things" to "maintain that joy" in their relationship and among those close to them.
