coronavirus Pandemic has changed the ways of how the World lives. Economies were smashed and several people have lot their lives. Before the Pandemic, the hostels business in the IT corridor of hyderabad is one of the most lucrative business but everything has changed now. They are struggling to survive as the majority of the IT workforce is shifted to Work from Home. Most of the hostels are wearing a deserted look since march and their business has taken a severe beating due to the pandemic.

There are around 3500 hostels and guest houses surrounding the HITEC City in Gachibowli, madhapur , and Kondapur.

About four lakh techies used to stay in these hostels and as many as 60,000 families are dependent on this business working as cooks, housekeeping staff, helpers, watchmen, transport operators, and drivers.

The operators of these hostels believed that the situation would improve from dasara onwards.

But alas, it has become a never-ending wait for them as the IT companies are continuing WFH. So, most of the hostels are running with zero business. The owners are struggling just to keep them in operation with the hope that the situation would improve in the near future.
