It would not be a far stretch to say that India never really demonstrated a very commendable progress in sexual and reproductive health

On April 14, the ministry of health and family welfare (MoHFW) finally released the guidelines, "Enabling Delivery of Essential Health Services during the Covid-19 Outbreak", enlisting reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, adolescent health and nutrition services as essential.

However, not before long, this was followed by suspensions of sterilisations and intra-uterine contraceptive devices in public facilities and difficulties in access to over-the-counter contraceptives, condoms, oral contraceptive pills, and emergency contraceptive pills.
