AdaniConneX, a joint venture between the Adani Group and EdgeConneX, has announced plans to establish a 1-gigawatt AI-ready data centre platform in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
With an investment of nearly $10 billion, the project highlights the Group's long-term focus on expanding India's digital capacity.
Serving as the lead infrastructure developer, AdaniConneX will construct scalable facilities designed to support advanced artificial intelligence and cloud-based operations. The development will incorporate an integrated energy framework to meet the needs of modern computing systems.
Drawing on the Adani Group's strengths in energy, the project will, however, secure reliable and sustainable electricity for continuous operations. This will enable efficient, resilient handling of intensive AI and cloud workloads.
The company will implement the project in stages to match the rising demand from hyperscale clients. This structured rollout will deliver a secure, adaptable ecosystem that promotes digital innovation and advances India's AI capabilities.
The initiative is projected to contribute significantly to Andhra Pradesh's economy by generating employment and attracting further investments. It will also elevate the state's standing as a key player in the global digital network while supporting India's transition to advanced technologies.
This project forms part of the Adani Group's broader commitment to invest $100 billion over the next decade.
The investment will, however, focus on strengthening India's AI, energy and digital infrastructure.
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw remarked that the launch of the India AI Hub in Visakhapatnam reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambition to position India at the forefront of global technology.
Google has initiated work on its largest AI-centric investment in the country, collaborating with AdaniConneX and other partners.
The development will play a crucial role in strengthening India's digital ecosystem.
The company further stated that the project represents its most significant commitment to India's digital future and reaffirms its intention to remain a long-term partner in supporting the nation's economic progress and environmental sustainability.
