Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, Union ministers, Chief Ministers and BJP President Nitin Nabin on Sunday paid tribute to Pingali Venkayya, who conceptualised the design of India's national flag, on his birth anniversary.
The Vice President described Venkayya as an eminent freedom fighter, a true Gandhian and the architect of the national flag, saying his contribution had left an enduring mark on India's history.
He also remembered Venkayya's selfless service and legacy, noting that the Tricolour continues to unite every Indian with pride.
Amit Shah said Venkayya made an immortal contribution by designing the Tiranga, which today stands as a symbol of India's pride and aspirations.
He also said Venkayya's role in the freedom movement and his contribution to various fields of knowledge would continue to inspire generations.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute to Venkayya, describing him as a distinguished scholar and polyglot whose contributions to India's freedom struggle, education and agricultural research reflected his lifelong commitment to nation-building.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda also honoured Venkayya, crediting him with giving shape to the national flag and strengthening India's national identity.
He said the Tricolour continues to inspire patriotism, unity and self-respect among citizens.
BJP President Nitin Nabin, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also paid homage to the freedom fighter.
They described the Tricolour as a symbol of India's unity, integrity and diversity, while remembering Venkayya's enduring contribution to the nation's identity and his lasting inspiration for future generations.
