The Maharashtra Cyber Department has arrested an accused in a cyber harassment case involving the daughter of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, Nitara Kumar.

The case pertains to an incident where she was allegedly asked to send nude photographs while playing an online video game.

According to Additional Director General of Police Yashasvi Yadav, the department acted promptly after receiving information through the actor's family. The minor had informed her parents after receiving inappropriate messages from an unknown individual during gameplay, leading to swift intervention by authorities.

The development was shared during a cyber awareness session organised by the department at RD National College. The programme focused on educating students about online threats, including financial fraud, phishing attacks, social media security and cyberbullying.

During the session, Yadav recounted the incident, noting that the child's prompt reporting to her parents helped authorities take action in the case. He emphasised the importance of awareness and timely communication in preventing cybercrimes.

An earlier video of Akshay Kumar from October 2025 was also played at the event, in which he described how the incident unfolded.

He explained that his daughter was interacting with an unknown player in a multiplayer game when casual conversation escalated into inappropriate questioning, eventually leading to a request for explicit images.

The actor highlighted how his daughter immediately exited the interaction and informed her mother, underscoring the importance of vigilance among children in digital spaces.

He also raised concerns about the growing risks of online exploitation and its serious consequences, including cases of extortion and mental distress.

Kumar had previously urged Devendra Fadnavis to introduce cybercrime awareness programmes in schools to better equip children against such threats.
