The clinical laboratory at Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) has secured ISO 15189:2022 accreditation for biochemistry and haematology.

This makes it the first institute under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences to attain this distinction.

The recognition marks a major advancement in quality healthcare under the Ministry of Ayush. It assures patients of accurate, reliable, and safe diagnostic outcomes aligned with international standards.

The laboratory has progressed from an entry-level National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories certification to a fully accredited centre of excellence.

Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav stated that adherence to global benchmarks ensures precise diagnostics and improved treatment outcomes. He added that the milestone reflects the ministry's ongoing efforts to elevate Ayush infrastructure.

Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, emphasised that the accreditation strengthens the integration of modern diagnostics with traditional medicine. He highlighted its role in promoting evidence-based practices and patient-centric care.

The laboratory currently holds NABL accreditation for 50 diagnostic parameters. It offers services including blood glucose testing, HbA1c, liver and kidney function tests, thyroid and lipid profiles, electrolyte analysis, and complete blood counts.

In 2025-26, the facility conducted over 1.52 lakh tests and served more than 9,300 patients. This demonstrates its expanding capacity and operational efficiency.

Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General, CCRAS, noted that the achievement builds upon prior certifications such as NABH and ISO 9001:2015. He added that it enhances scientific rigour and positions Ayurveda research at a higher global standard.
