Residents of Delhi are experiencing a break from the intense heatwave conditions that dominated much of April, with cooler temperatures and cloud cover bringing improved weather across the city.
According to the India Meteorological Department, partly cloudy skies will likely continue on Saturday, helping to limit any sharp rise in daytime temperatures.
While the heat has eased, some humidity may still cause mild discomfort, though light evening winds are likely to provide relief.
The shift in weather follows rainfall and hailstorms that affected several parts of the capital on Thursday.
As a result, temperatures on Friday dropped below seasonal averages.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 36.4°C, which is 2.9 degrees below normal, while the minimum stood at 22.8°C, 1.9 degrees lower than usual.
For Saturday, the maximum temperature will likely range between 38°C and 41°C under similar partly cloudy conditions.
Weather stations across the city also reported lower-than-normal readings. Safdarjung recorded a high of 36.4°C, while Palam registered 35.1°C. Lodhi Road, Ridge and Ayanagar reported maximum temperatures of 34.6°C, 34.9°C and 35.4°C, respectively.
Minimum temperatures followed the same pattern, with Palam at 21.3°C, Lodhi Road at 21.8°C, Ridge at 20.4°C and Ayanagar at 21.4°C, all below typical levels for this time of year.
The improved conditions have brought noticeable comfort to residents after days of rising heat.
Air quality in the capital remained in the 'moderate' category, with readings recorded across multiple locations, including Anand Vihar (136), Aya Nagar (115), Burari Crossing (122), Chandni Chowk (100), Commonwealth Sports Complex (109), DTU (112), Dwarka Sector 8 (131), IIT Delhi (116), JNU (95), Jahangirpuri (157), Mundka (136), Narela (140), North Campus (109), RK Puram (108), Rohini (149), Sonia Vihar (141) and Wazirpur (106).
