Delhi Police has uncovered an illegal LPG storage and black marketing operation in north Delhi, recovering 75 cylinders and arresting one individual.
The operation was conducted by the Bawana police team under the guidance of Vijay Singh and the supervision of Hareshwar Swami.
Authorities intensified action against unauthorised LPG handling to ensure safety and maintain order.
Acting on precise intelligence, a team led by SHO Gaurav Singh and ACP Joginder Singh established a checkpoint near DSIIDC, Bawana.
At around 4 PM, officers intercepted a pickup vehicle flagged by an informer.
The driver, identified as Anil from Auchandi village, failed to produce valid documentation.
A search revealed 27 LPG cylinders, both domestic and commercial, some filled. During interrogation, the accused disclosed additional storage sites nearby.
Police conducted follow-up raids at two rooms and a structure near an industrial unit, recovering 48 more cylinders. The total seizure reached 75 units of multiple brands.
Officials confirmed that the cylinders were stored without safety protocols or legal authorisation, posing significant fire and explosion risks due to LPG's volatile nature.
Police registered a case under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. Authorities also seized the transport vehicle used in the operation.
Investigators are now tracing supply sources, intended buyers, and the broader distribution chain. They are also examining possible involvement of gas agency personnel and assessing financial gains from the illicit trade.
